FAQs

Q: Is there a fee for this Gasshuku?

A: The Gasshuku is free, but donations in any amounts are appreciated.

Q: Where will this Gasshuku be hosted?

A: We will use an online meeting platform called: "Zoom". The link to Zoom.us

Q: How does Zoom work?

A: The class schedule above has a registration button for each class - just follow these links for each class that you want to take and get directed to the Zoom registration. Register for the class. Once registered for the class you will get an confirmation email with the date and time for that class. At the appropriate time just log in with your link and join the class.  -

Attention: Sometimes due to technical difficulties the class might not start exactly on time. Please be patient and do NOT leave the meeting room.

Q: Does Zoom cost anything?

A: No - all costs for a Zoom account are carried by KarateCoaching.com - there is no charge for you to set up your Zoom account as a viewer.

Q: Am I required to turn on my camera?

A: We would prefer if you do. 1) We want to see you and get to know you. 2) We want to see you - unfortunately online meetings have been interrupted through illegal interrupters and people who just don't have anything positive to contribute. Anonymity will help encourace such behavior and that is why we want to see all participants. Once you have identified yourself and we were able to confirm your through the registration, you are more than welcome to turn off your camera again.

Q: Will I need a microphone?

A: You will NOT need a microphone. We will mute all participants to reduce distractions, as well as noise level.

Q: What equipment will I need?

A: Our Zoom classes will work with any smartphone that can pull up Zoom.us. The Classes will play on smart phones, Ipads, tablets or even TV if you have connected your computer.

Q: What internet connection will I need?

A: Zoom will work with as low as 3G - however, we strongly recommend that you join our classes with a strong Wi-Fi connected (4G), or even a wired network. The faster your internet the smoother all streaming will work.

Q: I do live outside the USA, can I still join?

A: Absolutely - our Gasshuku is open for all styles, all countries, all ages and all levels. Just come and train.

ATTENTION: All our classes are what is called Pacific Standard Time. We are in the same time zone as Los Angeles or San Francisco. Please consider this and plan accordingly. This might mean that some classes are very early for you, while other classes might be very late for you. This might be part of your unique Gasshuku experience.

Q: Can I train out of my living room?

A: Absolutely - Most of our instructors will teach from home, their garage or yard. You will be able to follow the classes wherever you might be.

Q: Do I need to wear a gi?

A: We would prefer that all participants do wear their Karate uniform and belt - it is after all a Karate class and we want to maintain our tradition as much as possible, especially in this time were everything is out of the norm. Please wear a gi.

Q: Do I need to register?

A: Yes! Our current Zoom account allows only 300 participants. If we have a high demand we will have to make changes to fit the need and the earlier we know all details the better. Please register right away!!!
