Neko Ashi Dachi

Neko Ashi Dachi (cat stance)

The feet are the length of a foot apart (for Shotokan – in Shito Ryu the feet are approximately two feet apart)

The back foot points as much forward as you are flexible.

The outer edge of the back foot is pushed to the ground.

The front foot is lifted and only the ball of your foot is solid on the ground

Bend your back knee and put 90% of your body weight on it.

The front foot/toes and knee all point straight forward.

Keep your upper body straight.

Neko Ashi Dachi is more of a defensive stance that enables you to kick easily with your front foot.
